When our family first started homeschooling, I wanted a more natural, self-directed learning environment for our kids. 

But the societal pressure to push academics and teach all the subjects their peers were learning in school was always in the back of my mind. That little voice kept telling me I wasn't doing enough or that our kids were falling behind. 

Thankfully, I found some mentors, first through books and podcasts, and later through building relationships with experienced homeschoolers who had been there before and made it through to the other side. 

Those conversations gave me the evidence I needed that this style of homeschooling works. They helped me realize that homeschooling, like any important endeavor has high and low, stages and phases, but in the end it all has a way of sorting itself out.

Hi. I'm April.

I’m a homeschool mom and former classroom teacher. Having seen firsthand how little the school system prioritized the health and wellbeing of kids and teachers, I knew I wanted a better learning experience for our family, but I didn’t know what that would look like. 

So I poured myself into learning as much as I could about homeschooling. I read the books, listened to the podcasts and built relationships with homeschool mentors who had been there before. And I tried countless approaches with my own kids to find ways of learning that worked for them.

I wouldn’t say I know it all, but I’ve learned a lot along the way, I'm an empathetic listener, and I’m passionate about helping others on their homeschooling journey.
